The short version
- Random: no symbol combination wins it; a separate draw does.
- Local: one casino's pot, not a pool shared across a network.
- 4 slots in our spec file carry the label, and none of them is listed in the lobby's Progressives tab.
- Springbok's pages give no jackpot size or odds for these titles, and no RTP.
- The label. Springbok's lobby tiles for Cleopatra's Gold, Achilles, Lion's Lair say "Local random jackpot".
- Random. The jackpot is not tied to lining up particular symbols; it is awarded on its own.
- Local. Local normally means one casino's players feed the pool, not a network of casinos.
- The other kind. Aztec's Millions and Megasaur are network progressives that the lobby calls symbol driven.
What the three words on the tile mean
"Local random jackpot" packs three separate ideas into three words, and each one rules something out.
Jackpot
A prize kept apart from the normal pay table. Line and ways wins are fixed multiples of your stake (how those multiples are quoted); a jackpot is a separate pot that follows its own rules, and its value is not printed on the reels.
Random
Nothing has to line up. The lobby uses the opposite wording, "symbol driven", for its network progressives, where landing a particular combination wins the pot. A random jackpot is settled by its own draw, so no spin can be steered towards it, and it is no more likely after a quiet spell.
Local
The pot belongs to one casino's version of the game. A network progressive pools stakes from players at many casinos, which is how those totals climb so high; a local pot is held by one casino and, where it grows at all, grows only from play there.
Everything above is how the phrase is generally used. The rules for a specific game, such as whether the size of your bet changes your chance in the draw, sit in that game's help or pay-table screen. Springbok's tile does not spell them out, so check there before relying on them.
Springbok slots that carry a local random jackpot
The label belongs mostly to Realtime Gaming's older catalogue. These are the titles in our spec file that carry it; with 244 slots in the lobby and spec sheets for 44, read them as examples, not a full list.
4 of the 44 slots in our spec file carry a local random jackpot
- Cleopatra's Gold
- Achilles
- Lion's Lair
- Count Spectacular

| Game | Lines or ways | Volatility | Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Achilles | 20 lines | Medium | 1 April 2006 |
| Cleopatra's Gold | 20 lines | High | 15 February 2002 |
| Lion's Lair | 20 lines | Medium | Not published |
| Count Spectacular | 25 variable lines | High | 15 December 2010 |

One tile says more than the others. Count Spectacular's reads "Local progressive random jackpots (Minor and Major)", so its pots grow over time and come in two named sizes while still being drawn at random. "Progressive" and "random" are not opposites: the first describes how a pot grows, the second how it is won.
Tiles do not always use the phrase even where it applies. Our register notes, from Springbok's preview, that Cash Bandits 2 has that game's Minor and Major jackpots as random local progressives, while its tile says only "Minor and Major jackpots" Springbok preview.
Newer slots often package their jackpots differently. 12 titles in our file list named tiers, such as the Mini, Minor, Major and Grand on Treasure Sparks and Liberty Rockets, and 8 of those sit beside a Hold & Spin or similar coin feature (how those rounds work).
Local random jackpot vs network progressive
Local random jackpot
Won by a separate draw, not a combination. One casino's pot. Listed with the ordinary slots, and the tile shows no extra bet for it.
Network progressive
Won by landing jackpot symbols, which the tiles call "symbol driven". One pool fed by many players. Grouped in the lobby's Progressives tab: 10 titles, Caribbean poker tables among them.
Two Egyptian-themed titles make the contrast concrete. They share a name and a setting, but not a jackpot.
| Game | Lines or ways | Volatility | Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cleopatra's Gold | 20 lines | High | 15 February 2002 |
| Jackpot Cleopatra's Gold | 25 lines | High | 7 April 2021 |
From Springbok's lobby tiles, read 9 October 2026. Examples, not a complete list of the lobby's 244 slots.
Cleopatra's Gold, dated 15 February 2002 in the lobby, plays 20 lines with a local random jackpot. Jackpot Cleopatra's Gold plays 25 lines at a fixed bet, and its tile describes a network progressive that is symbol driven. If the jackpot is what draws you to a game, check which kind it carries before you play: the theme will not tell you.
The Lobby Jackpot: a third kind
Springbok also runs a casino-wide Lobby Jackpot that sits across its slots rather than inside one game. Because it too belongs to Springbok alone, it is easy to mix up with a local random jackpot, but the terms are different. This is how Springbok's T&Cs describe it.
Opt-in Lobby Jackpot: enrolled players place a compulsory R0.08 bet on every slot spin; wins are paid as real money with no playthrough unless won while playing a deposit bonus or cashback; free bonuses cannot contribute Verified, 9 October 2026
The practical difference is cost. A local random jackpot comes with the game, and its tile shows no separate charge. The Lobby Jackpot applies only after you opt in, and from then on it adds its own small bet to every slot spin. The Lobby Jackpot guide works out what that extra bet adds up to over a session.
Why this entry prints no jackpot figure
Jackpot totals move all the time. When Springbok's pages were read for this site, two tickers loaded minutes apart showed different totals. Any number printed here would be out of date before the page finished loading, and a large figure says nothing about what your next spin will do.
For the same reason there are no winner lists or "jackpot due" signals here. Springbok's site and lobby show live tickers for the jackpots they track; look there at the moment you play if the current value matters to you.
What a random jackpot means for each spin
A local random jackpot does not change the basic deal of a slot. Each spin is settled the moment you press the button, and the jackpot draw is part of that one result. Nothing builds up in your favour: a pot that has not paid for a long time is not due, and nothing on the tiles says these jackpots must drop by a set size or date.
The jackpot is also part of what the game pays back over time, not a gift on top of it. Springbok publishes no RTP for any of the 4 local-random titles in our spec file, so there is no published figure for how much of a game's return the jackpot accounts for (what an RTP figure covers).
For how a session will feel, the volatility label tells you more than the jackpot does. Achilles carries a medium label and Cleopatra's Gold a high one, and the ordinary swings of those bands apply whatever the jackpot does (what the labels mean).

Achilles
- 20 lines
- Medium volatility
Achilles shows the label with nothing else in the way: 20 lines, a medium volatility label, a Trojan War theme and a local random jackpot, with no network pool or coin round on its tile to muddy the picture. The lobby dates it to 1 April 2006. Lobby tile
